After getting a cheap sling from Amazon and then making some of my own from leather and paracord, I wanted to get an SR3 Pan Sling. I ordered two - one for me and my buddy - and we love them. They perform perfectly and are well constructed. I appreciate the plastic protectors for the areas that take a beating from rocks. They have a nice weight to them and roll out smoothly, when I do my part. I also appreciate that they are made from nylon cord with a rubberized pouch, allowing them to get wet without creating any problems. This makes them a fun addition to any kayaking trips. I appreciate the storage reel but find it a bit big for my taste and simply wrap the sling up and bind it with an elastic band. I carry the SR3 with me daily in my EDC bag.
I have been shooting "through the fork" type slingshots my whole life and had the chance a while back to really sling something with this style sling. It was such a WOW! moment for me. Ever since I've wanted to get a real sling and become proficient at the skill. This SR3 is definitely the tool for the job! I have loved practicing with it and enjoying seeing the progress. These slings are awesome. I have now bought one for me and all of my sons. They are so much fun.
The sling is fantastic! The user not so much. I bought the 27” and the sling is well made. I have spent a couple of hours with it and have finally gotten to where I can consistently sling it in the right direction. Aim is all over the place but at least it is heading in the general direction I aim. I am really high most of the time. The videos are very helpful. I have not watched them all yet so hopefully one will address common aiming mistakes.
Had a bit of a run with the SR3. Upon opening, everything looked great.
I snugged up and waxed the fall then took it out. Made it 4 whole throws and the fall apparently vaporized as it was no longer present and nowhere to be found. Fortunately customer support was able to send a replacement. While attaching the replacement, I decided to check the other connections and also found the knot by the finger loop to be a bit loose. I snugged that up as well and took it back out.
Once everything was properly tightened it worked like a dream. The finger loop is amazing. Throws aren’t wonky from the knots or the keeper loop thing. Throws are about as accurate as with the original pan. I haven’t had much chance to play with the spin correction yet.. that will be one of the next times. I did get the loudest crack out of it yet though… sounded like a gunshot and made me jump a little! It was pretty cool.
Anyway. I’d definitely recommend the SR3. I would strongly advise thoroughly tightening all knots before taking it out slinging. I have also been checking the protective rings on the release cord as they do occasionally start to slide up a bit. Besides the initial learning and tightening/snugging, I really really enjoy the SR3.
This is a very nice sling , made with good materials and professionally hand crafted. Highly recommended.
I was a little nervous due to the price, but within 20 minutes I was getting close to the intended target. I have been practicing for 20 minutes a day for the past week using the techniques in their video and I must say I am really enjoying this. Quality product that is worth every penny.
Just started getting into slinging, and saw these on YouTube. Couldn't find anything else that looked close to the quality and features of these. So far, it has been great using it! Highly recommend!
I love these slings so much this is my second sling I’ve purchased at Pan Slings. I taught my brother in-law in Greece how to sling (in 20 minutes) using my original Machu sling. He loved it so much I left my sling for him in Greece and ordered a SR3 replacement for myself to be waiting on my porch in OR-US when I returned home. It was and it’s even better in the new SR3 configuration. Unbelievably easy to pick up the technique, practice to refine your aim and consistency. It’s the only sling you’ll want to use, forever!
The construction of the sling is very high quality! I've had mine for seven days now. I live next to the river and find myself down there every evening slinging rocks. So far, my personal best is about 100 - 110m with the 27" sling when I am going for distance. However, I am fairly accurate under 50m. Looking forward to seeing my progress in the coming months.
